Moran Towing of Lake Charles

Moran Towing of Lake Charles, LLC is a joint venture bringing together the professionalism, experience, and state of the art equipment of Moran Towing Corporation, Bay-Houston Towing, Co., and Suderman & Young Towing Co., L.P. to serve LNG vessels at the Cameron LNG Terminal.

Moran Towing of Lake Charles will operate four purpose built Azimuthing Stern Drive fire-fighting Tugs designed and built specifically to escort and assist the largest vessels in operation in the LNG fleet today as they make their way up the Calcasieu River.

The Cameron LNG receipt terminal will be capable of processing up to 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.  Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is natural gas that has been supercooled to minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit.  At this temperature, natural gas condenses into a liquid.  When in liquid form, natural gas takes up to 600 times less space than in its gaseous state, which makes it feasible to transport over long distances.  In the form of LNG, natural gas can be shipped from the parts of the world where it is abundant to where it is in demand.  The use of LNG is a proven, reliable, and safe process, and it has been used in the United States for more than 60 years.
